POS 05 — Nevada Agritourism Tour
There is far more to Nevada than vast desert where only sage and Joshua trees sprout from the sandy soil. In fact, Nevada has a robust agriculture industry and parallel agritourism opportunities that give visitors insight into the state’s homegrown products.
The tour starts with a short one-hour flight from Las Vegas to Reno, where you’ll sample cuisine from restaurants that feature local farms and ranches on their menus.
Next, it’s on to the town of Fallon, where ranches and farms outnumber casinos. Among the highlights is a visit to Nevada’s only estate distillery and to a commercial farm that welcomes tourists.
On the way back to Reno, you’ll visit more farms that contribute goods to local restaurants and businesses, and sample award-winning wines from the oldest continuously operating winery in the state. From here, we’ll send you home sated with stories and great food. Overnights are in Reno and Fallon.
Cost: $270 Actives; $330 Associates; $360 Alumni, Spouses (maximum: 10)
Note: Transportation to the Reno area following the core convention is included. This tour ends at the Reno-Tahoe airport; participants are responsible for arranging flights home from RNO after 12:00 noon on Oct. 12.
