PRE 02 — Reno-Tahoe: Gems of the West
Arrive in Reno to begin your three-day tour of northern Nevada’s not-so-hidden gems. First, you’ll experience the Wild West in Virginia City, once the richest town in the West thanks to gold and silver lodes in the rocks under the city. You will tour mines, ride the V&T Railway, look for ghosts in Virginia City’s haunted hotels and sidle up to bar in one of the town’s many historic saloons.
Next, you’ll revel in nature during a day at Lake Tahoe, called “the lake of the sky” for its brilliant blue water that is crystal clear to the bottom. Autumn is an incredible season in the Sierra Nevada, and you’ll be able to get out on the lake (weather permitting) or enjoy mountain activities such as hiking and biking.
You’ll end the tour with a rockin’ day and night in Reno at the inaugural Blue Jeans Jam festival. Did you know that riveted jeans were invented right here in Reno? This new and newsworthy event is dedicated to denim fashion and music. Musical performers will be announced this summer.
Cost: $270 Actives; $330 Associates; $360 Alumni, Spouses (maximum: 20)
Note: This tour starts at Reno-Tahoe airport; participants are responsible for flying to RNO to join the tour by 2:00pm on Oct. 1. Transportation to Las Vegas for the core convention is included.
